Big Bear Lake Activities
Big Bear Lake is so much more than a winter ski destination. From the opening of the lake in spring through the height of the summer season, there is no shortage of fun under the sun on the inviting waters of our town’s namesake. No less than six full-service marinas have everything you need to enjoy a day of adventure on the lake, with plenty of guided and self-guided lake activities for every budget and bucket list.
Our Crown Jewel
Nestled in the mountains, Big Bear Lake is a dazzling sapphire underneath some of the clearest, bluest skies you have ever seen. Whether you only wish to take in the views from one of our scenic vistas or get up close and personal with the Big Bear herself with a scenic tour aboard an authentic pirate ship or sightseeing paddlewheel steamer, you will find plenty of options for every vacation.
What’s Your Locomotion?
Big Bear Lake is 7 miles across and can be explored any way you like. Rent a powerboat, learn to sail, or try your hand at standup paddleboarding and provide your own horsepower. The calm waters and 22 miles of sprawling shoreline are easily explored by kayak or canoe, with rentals available from all of the marinas. While you’re there, stock up for supplies and grab a fishing license – the lake is chock full of trout, bass, and catfish and the fishing is fantastic from dawn to dusk. There are even some semi-secret winter fishing holes you can check out. For those seeking a slightly faster pace, don’t miss the opportunity skim across the lake on a wakeboard, kneeboard, or water skis. Parasailing, jet skis, and more are also available.
Be sure to contact Big Bear Resorts or use our website to book your perfect lakeside accommodations, and then contact the nearest marina to reserve your lake adventure today!
